Communication Committee
Reporting to the ICIS Board, and working in conjunction with the Society’s Secretariat (staff), the role of this committee is to develop and facilitate a coordinated communication strategy to maximize opportunities and facilitate engagement between the Society and its stakeholders.
Committee Composition
The Committee is comprised of:
- The elected member of the ICIS board chosen as the Communications Chair
- 4-10 ICIS members in good standing at least one will be a Student Member(s)
- It is preferred that members should represent a cross-section of researchers/clinicians from the Americas, Asia-Pacific region and Europe and be inclusive of student members or early career researchers
- It is expected that the committee composition may fluctuate in size based on member interest

Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the committee include:
- To work with Society’s Secretariat (staff) to develop a biennial strategic communications plan
- To provide direction, content and strategies to Society’s Secretariat (staff) to communicate between the Society and its stakeholders
- To provide a conduit for the Society Board to facilitate engagement and communication between the Society and its stakeholders
- To provide ICIS specific content to the Society’s Secretariat (staff) to develop and maintain the society website, Facebook site, and facilitate communication with other interactive media such as email, twitter, blogs, newsletters, etc.
- To recruit and direct a social media team, to ensure an active ICIS social media environment is maintained
- To participate as an active member of the social media team as directed by the Chair
- To develop and implement marketing and communications policies and strategies as required
- Actively promote ICIS and ICIS initiatives, including the biennial congress and Infancy journal, to their respective communities/contacts
- Be visible and vocal advocates and promoters of the congress to prospective participants in the scientific and associated communities, in the lead up to and during the biennial Congress
- Be available to participate in scheduled planning meetings via conference call
- Attend the biennial Congress

The committee is seeking new members! We hope to appoint 4 new members for a 4-year term. We are looking for people at all levels, but particularly junior faculty, postdocs and students. We also aim to include members from diverse geographical locations to reflect the international nature of the society.
